Akot Jennifer’s life took a dark turn when her father passed away in 2006. Unable to afford schooling, Jennifer stayed home to help her mother take care of the youngest members of her family during the war. Today, Jennifer is able to support herself and her mother, but also contributes to the educational funds of two other children.

DREAMS FOR THE FUTURE

I hope to start a business of my own and then return to school to finish my education.

WHAT MAKES CROCHETING ENJOYABLE

Crocheting has given me the money that I need to provide for myself and my family. My diet is balanced now, which has contributed to my improved health. My dress code is also very different—much better—than it used to be!
