Akello Susan lost both her parents when she was about 3 years old. She was raised up by her grandmother which was tough since her grandmother had many orphans to take care of. Her grandmother could not afford to pay for school, so Susan was forced to drop out. She remembers the extreme poverty that she grew up in- the only source of food was what they could till from the ground. Farming was difficult because Susan and her family were forced to relocate so many times during the war. Akello Susan is widowed with 6 children. Since joining KK Uganda, Susan can now buy clothes for her children. She looks forward to the future, where she can buy land and build a house for her family.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT NORTHERN UGANDA

The beautiful thing about Northern Uganda is the peace and stability.
